Contribute
Every post, leaderboard and data file on this site lives in a public GitHub repository. Fixes, new posts and collaborations all happen there as pull requests, and every change is reviewed before it goes live.
Fix something
Every post has a “Suggest an edit on GitHub” link at the bottom. It opens the post’s file in GitHub’s editor. Make the change and GitHub walks you through opening a pull request. For anything bigger than a typo, add a sentence explaining what was wrong. Accepted corrections are noted in the post’s changelog, and you’re credited as a contributor.
To report a problem without fixing it yourself, open an issue.
Write a post
- Open an issue with a short pitch: what the post explains, who it’s for, and what code or data it uses.
- Once we agree, fork the repository and add your post as a folder under
posts/. Copy an existing post to start. - Add yourself in
authors/your-name.yamlwith a name and a one-line bio. - Run
npm installandnpm run validate, then open a pull request.
Posts are Markdown with a few building blocks: margin notes, numbered figures, citations written as [@key], math in LaTeX, and a small set of interactive charts. Posts contain no code of their own, which keeps the site safe to build from anyone’s contribution. If your post needs a new kind of chart, describe it in your pitch.
